Bite Size Returns!

A couple of years ago, the Women’s Ministries team brainstormed about what could be done in response to a very specific request we were getting. Women emailed us, stopped by the table on the Plaza and asked about it, or cornered us in the supermarket to say the same thing: I need a friend.

Even with the amazing array of Bible studies and seminars we offer, plus support groups, MOPS, MOSAIC and more, women were voicing a need to just BE with other women in a casual, not-so-programmed way . . . connecting in community. Out of that was born a brand new ministry initiative called BITE SIZE which we found did exactly what we intended it to do—connect women, heart to heart. At least that’s what the first 300 women who participated in a Bite Size group told us happened!

Bite Size is by design, intergenerational—the more decades in the mix the better. It’s not a Bible study, not a prayer group or a support group. Instead, Bite Size is a group of 10-12 women who meet together for just five weeks in homes, maybe even close to where they live. We developed a curriculum to take the “what happens each night” out of the worry zone, and there are four weeks pre-planned with the middle week (week three) to be determined by the group: Dinner out? Bowling? Movie? Game night?

As Bite Size returns this fall we already have six hostesses opening their homes beginning the week of October 8 on various nights of the week in Fullerton, La Mirada, Placentia. Each hostess will be joined by a trained facilitator who will see that the group has a great time working through some activities (no homework in Bite Size!), getting to know each other, connecting and having fun.

Bite Size sign-ups begin this Sunday, September 24, on the plaza (only) and continue (as space in groups allows) October 1 & 8. Cost is minimal ($5).

Bite Size. Intergenerational, in homes, woman-to-woman, old friends and new. We’re saving you a place!
