A Summer of Connections

Summer of Connections - Kids watermelon eating contest

On Sunday mornings in the Worship Center, I sometimes like to look around at all those surrounding me. It is heavenly to see the array of people in the room, all lifting up their different voices and various expressions of worship to our worthy and Holy God. Young children dancing in the very front. Older couples who’ve been married 50-plus years holding hands. High school and junior high students standing with their core group leaders. Families. Friends. Couples. Singles. Old. Young. Different ethnicities and cultures. All I can do is smile, thinking of the blood of Christ that binds us all.

It really is beautiful to have such a range of people who belong to this church. It is just a fraction of the diversity John describes in Revelation 7:9: “After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb . . .” But sometimes with diversity, there can be a tendency to flock only with those who are like us. That can lead to segmentation, and we must be careful of such division.

I have been entrusted with the role to help our church family connect with one another, to provide ways for people to rub shoulders with one another, to fight against isolation and division, and to draw our congregation closer, in the strength of the Spirit. And as our Body grows closer, we grow stronger for the Kingdom and more aligned to how God designed His Church.

I want to invite you to some upcoming ways that you can connect with others in your church family. There is spiritual value to gathering together, plus its just great fun! Whether you’re already deeply connected with others at this church or just starting out, I hope you know your value to our Body and the call to draw closer to one another. I look forward to seeing you at these events!
