Pastoral Care .. Parish Nursing
What is Parish Nursing?
Parish Nurses are currently licensed registered nurses who obtain additional training through accredited nursing programs to assist in developing health and caring ministries in churches. Parish nursing recognizes that the church has played an essential part of the healing and caring of people since the early days of Christianity. The Parish Nurse ministers to individuals and families, using church, community and spiritual resources to care for the whole person.
What it is not . . .
We do not provide hands-on care, administer medication, draw blood, give injections or perform any invasive procedures. Home health care nurses and public health nurses provide these services. Parish nurses cooperate with community health nursing, hospice or social agencies, but do not function as a substitute for their services.
