Sports .. Clubs & Teams

The pursuit of physical fitness through participation in athletics has become increasing popular. What's your sport? Hiking? Cycling? Mountain biking? There may be a group of people in this church who share your interest and who have formed a club to pursue it together. You may find a club to be an ideal way to connect with unchurched friends . . . and to give those friends an up-close-and-personal look at their Christian faith in a wonderfully non-threatening way.

Pathfinders Hiking Group

"Winding paths shall be straightened and rough ways made smooth." - Luke 3:5

The Christ-centered Pathfinders hiking group enjoys spending time outdoors appreciating God's beautiful creativity in nature. We generally provide two hiking activities. (1) From April through September, we hike each Thursday evening in Chino Hills State Park. The hiking routes we select are generally around 4 miles, and vary in difficulty from easy to moderate. These hikes are open to adults, teenagers, and children (provided they can handle gentle hills). (2) Throughout the year, we have a full schedule of day hikes on Saturdays. These day hikes are usually 5-12 miles in length, and range from easy/moderate to strenuous.

Freewheelers Cycling Club

Our purpose is to provide a connecting avenue for cyclists within the church body, via frequent, organized, but informal rides. We have both road rides and mountain rides.

Currently we are riding most Saturday mornings and we will often do a Sunday afternoon or weeknight ride on the Fullerton Loop with mountain bikes. We try to vary the length and difficulty of the rides to accomodate riders of different abilities. Every cuople months we try to plan what we call a family ride, which is suitable for older children, little kids in trailers or beggining riders.

We would like to include anyone who is interested and try to plan rides based on the abilities of those who express interest. This is an excellent venue for bringing a friend who might never come to church with you. They can have fun and rub elbows with Christians in a non-threatening environment. If you are interested in joining us please contact Matt Johnston @ (714) 994-2862 or Shane Kidwell @ (562) 947-7161 to answer your questions, or to be placed on our e-mail list. We use our e-mail list of interested cyclists and send out information about our weekly rides.
