NEW PHOTOS: CHECK OUT THE PHOTOS PAGE 08/02/08 According the the Delta website, the flight arrival is on time for 9:56pm. Assuming baggage goes well, we should be back to FEFC by 11:30. --------------------------------- 07/27/08 Our first work week is over and God has been good. Thanks to the mild weather, we have been able to put in long days and have accomplished a lot. At the ministry center we have been remodeling the theater area. The complex was built in the 70"s and for its day was considered cutting edge: theater seating, air conditioning (the first theater in Hungary to have it) and modern looking architecture. Today the seats are worn, the carpets stink and the walls look very dated. We removed the seats (about 500), took up the carpets and have dry walled over some of the walls. Downstairs in the coffee house, which will be used for outreach to the community, we have removed walls to create a much larger seating area. There was also an under-utilized area that is now a classroom. The last couple of days we have split into two teams, one continuing at the Mozi (the movie theater) and one at the ReachGlobal offices where Robin works. The downstairs was just a very large conference room that we have divided into several offices . We also will be adding a kitchenette. The other project at the offices was to demolish a small two-story storage building at the back of the property. This was not supposed to take long but once we got into it, realized that it was a major undertaking. The builders here love concrete, the thicker the better. The second floor of the storage building and even the ceiling were thick reinforced slabs. The men that drew the short straws have been laboring endlessly with a jack hammer and sledges to try and bring this building down. It's coming along but is a slow process. The weather outlook for the week is a warning trend which could affect our productivity but we will press on. We are enjoying some much needed R and R this weekend before we go back to work on Monday. Thanks for all your prayers. The Hungary Team --------------------------------- 07/24/08 The team is serving at full capacity and bonding well. Randy and Bryan have us in position to fulfill our commitment and probably more. Robyn and her team have been kind hosts to our gang, going beyond what we could hope for! Bryan and I are caravanning the team to each job. Tim Pratt for the Budapest construction team --------------------------------- 07/21/08 Greetings from Budapest! We all arrived safe and sound without any major travel issues. As expected, we’re a little weary, but in all we had a great first day. We were greeted by Robyn Smith, our Fullerton Ev. Free connection, and Dale Phillips the team leader. We arrived at the church just as services were ending and were able to visit with old friends and see the building once again. Brad Mullet, the team leader in charge of the facility (who wasn't able to be with us last year), took us on a tour of the facility and surrounding area. He shared in detail the history of the ministry and the building, something we never got the full story on last year—an amazing odyssey which we will share with you down the road. In a nutshell, more evidence that we serve an amazing God! It was fun to see the rooms we built last year finished and see how they are currently being used. The completed work looks great and, better yet, is now serving a variety of ministries. Great things are happening here, too many to go into now. Robyn and crew took good care of us in their attempt to keep us up late enough to get us switched over to local time. Not an easy task, I assure you. Today we will hit the ground running on the first of several projects that are scheduled for our time here. Thanks for your prayers for our travel, health, and surviving the long trip. They have all been answered! As we start our time here, pray for energy, wisdom for our leadership, and that the mild weather we enjoyed on our arrival will continue. We are staying at a non-air conditioned hotel and getting a good night’s rest is vital to our mission. Thanks again for your prayers and support and for being a big part of this team. Scott Fisher for the Hungary team P.S. Tried to send several pictures but couldn’t get them to go through. I will keep trying. --------------------------------- 07/21/08 The team has arrived and is off to a great start already this morning with all the bolted-down chairs REMOVED in the Mozi auditorium, as well as half the carpet. They are whipping through projects on site number one! Thanks for praying. We'll keep you posted. Robyn Smith --------------------------------- 7/19/08 Robyn Smith is READY FOR TEAM FULLERTON!
