07/13/08 Both North Africa teams were together for the weekend. Friday night we all had dinner at the home of Saturday's tour guide. Actually, it was at the home of his mom. It was a very delicious couscous and other stuff. His wife might know Father, and one of our team had a wonderful time speaking Spanish to her. But of course, it was a light conversation. Think of her...it isn't easy for her. Saturday of the team went on the tour of the medina others spent the day with Steve and Yvonne and their 2 + year old son, Adham. We saw them again this morning at a Sunday morning meeting for brothers from various places. We sang songs and the thoughts came about so many here who aren't in the family. It's heartbreaking. Tell Father to please send help. Now it's time to go to sleep and get up for another week of work. We are doing quite well. We're loving it here and hoping some of you wish you were here, so that you can come next time!!! --------------------------------- 07/10/08 Well this group is definitely not the quietest group that I have traveled with; but I must admit it is one of the most fun groups that I have served with...there has been much laughter. Today, beyond our regular work with the children and their parents, at 3:00 we were given the privilege to share our stories of how God has blessed us with special children; and these children are wonderfully and beautifully created by a God who loves us greatly. There were a lot of facial expressions of understanding, followed by smiles and head nodding. From all reports, we were accepted and they appreciated what was shared. The people do not like pictures to be taken, but one lady, while carrying her child, came up to Connie and wanted to stand next to her and have her picture taken with Connie. She like many others "connected" with Connie's passion for God's children. It has been very hot and humid here...so much for the "it is a dry heat" story...its not. We have been well fed by a local cook and all are physically doing well. Tomorrow is our last day in Meknes. We work in the morning and head for Fes in the afternoon. It is hotter in Fes, so we will do our best to stay cool...yea right. On Sunday, we will attend a local service of believers, then visit a Believers orphanage. Then on Monday its back to work at the center in Fes. Pray for our stamina, as this center is in a one story building, exposed to sun, with no air conditioning. This has been a blessing to serve Him...thank you for all your support and prayers. North Africa team --------------------------------- 07/08/08 Finally found a internet cafe that is clean and works. It is so hard to type as the letters are in different places on the keyboard. We had another great day with the children. The people are so different, yet in so many ways are the same as us. They have the same desires and needs and they love their children the same as we love ours. Many in this country want to know the Truth but are not sure where to find it. The parents are warming up to us as they see us loving and accepting their children. Most of these families don't have much and cannot afford medical attention, so they come to the center. Here they can receive physical help but also find a place for spiritual help. They are able to see what a believer is like; they are watching us carefully throughout the day. I wish we could be here longer in order to establish deeper relationships, but the One Above can take the smallest of offerings and multiply the fruits, just like the loaves and fishes. Pray that he will give us opportunities to share. This Thursday we get to share our Story with the parents. This will be a warm audience where we can share about the Truth that we found. Everyone is doing very well. All have adjusted to the weather, the food, the smells, etc. You have a great team here and they are doing a great job loving the people. Blessings, --------------------------------- 07/07/08 The team arrived with all their luggage and met with Al and Melissa for two hours. They just completed their first day in Meknes. The physical therapy is very demanding but the team is doing well. Dan mentioned that he is thrilled with the team and the dedication and willing hearts that they exhibit.
